Four Louis Comfort Tiffany Windows Not Seen for More Than 40 Years on Display at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral: In Company With Angel

PHILADELPHIA, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Louis Comfort Tiffany was commissioned to design a series of seven windows depicting angels for a church in Cincinnati at the turn of the century. Tiffany created the windows for the church between 1902 and 1903. In 1964, the church building was slated for demolition for a highway project and the windows were removed and crated for storage.

More or less forgotten in storage for more than forty years, these Tiffany masterpieces have recently been rediscovered and restored in preparation for an unveiling and traveling national exhibit.

Four of the seven stained-glass masterpieces will be exhibited during a sneak-preview fundraiser of the exhibit at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. The fundraiser will aid in the final restoration of the windows and the traveling exhibit featuring all seven restored windows.

An invitation-only event is being held Saturday evening at 8 p.m., April 22, 2006 at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. Viewing for the public is by appointment only Tuesday, April 25th through Wednesday, May 31st, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call 215-947-0266 to reserve a viewing time. There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per person. School groups and tours welcome with prior arrangement.

This event is being sponsored by the Temenos Retreat Center of West Chester, PA, the Bryn Athyn Cathedral, and Partners for Sacred Places of Philadelphia. Windows owned by Temenos Retreat Center: http://www.temenosretreat.org/.
